About World of Music & Arts

World of Music & Arts (WMA) is a mid-sized music school with a growing number of students, teachers, and lessons to coordinate. Managing lesson schedules across dozens of teachers and multiple different rooms only becomes increasingly complex with time.

Our existing solution, before discovering Bryntum, was prototyped to be workable and was beginning to crumble under stress. We needed a modern solution that we could swap in quickly, before our technical debt could grow any further.

Why Bryntum?

Calendars can be notoriously difficult to develop and maintain. Our key requirements included:

  • Responsive, intuitive navigation and drag-and-drop gestures
  • Flexible scheduling, rescheduling, and deletion endpoints
  • Graceful handling of conflicts across ten concurrent studios

We evaluated several calendar solutions, but Bryntum Calendar stood out as the clear winner. Not only did it meet the requirements completely, it also provided a noticeably fast onboarding experience. Bryntum’s documentation made it straightforward to understand the API and integrate the calendar into our existing Angular application.

The room calendar view shows a single day across all ten studios at once. The View width control adjusts how much horizontal space each resource column takes, so staff can move between a compact overview and a wider, more readable layout without leaving the page.

Impact

The impact of the integration has been significant for both administrators and developers.

For administrators:

  • Scheduling tasks have become as intuitive as native mobile calendar apps
  • Conflicts are easy to discover and handle appropriately
  • Multiple workflows have been centralized into a single view

For developers:

  • A clean API with well-maintained documentation for integration with Angular
  • Immense time savings from quality, out-of-the-box calendar functionalities
  • Help via the Bryntum Support Forums

Thanks to Bryntum Calendar, WMA has quickly established a solid foundation for a large majority of its day-to-day tasks, with both fantastic user and developer experiences to boot.
