We strive to keep posts updated, but code samples may sometimes be outdated. Humans, see the Bryntum documentation; agents, https://mcp.bryntum.com for the latest info.

We’re excited to share that our friends at PayPal are hosting a hackathon, and both Bryntum and AG Grid are partnering with official prize categories.

Join in, build something with a Gantt chart, calendar, or scheduler in it, and win cash and swag.

Hackathon details

PayPal is running Build What’s Next with AI + PayPal, a six-week hackathon with partners from across the dev tools world. We are hosting our own prize category.

  • Submissions open: October 1, 2026
  • Submission period: October 1 to November 12, 2026
  • Winners announced: December 21, 2026
  • Format: solo or team
  • Requirements: use the PayPal API and AI in your project
  • Submission requirements: public code, not a recycled project

The prizes 💰

Best Use of Bryntum: $1,000 each for three winners.

That’s on top of the wider pool of $60,000+ across all categories. Submissions are judged by a panel of experts from PayPal and the partner companies. Mats Bryntse (our CEO), along with others on our team, will judge the Bryntum category.

What to build

Build an app integrating the free PayPal developer platform with Bryntum for our category. The app should be a working proof of concept with AI functionality included as a genuinely useful feature. Submit your project in a GitHub repo along with a description and a short YouTube demo video for the judges. See the hackathon page for details.

Scheduling and planning problems are everywhere once you start looking, and a payments API changes what you can build around them.

Some warm-up ideas:

  • An agency delivery board where a late payment visibly blocks the next phase of work
  • An equipment rental calendar that locks a slot until payment clears
  • A scheduler that automatically reroutes itself the moment a payment comes in late
  • A subscription renewal calendar with a built-in “chase them nicely” reminder flow
  • …and whatever else you can dream up with a Gantt chart, a calendar, and a payments API

Helpful Bryntum resources

Who else is joining

  • AG Grid: self-serve dashboards, grids, and charts
  • APIMatic: instant PayPal context for your AI agent
  • Postman: design, test, and document your API
  • Render: deploy and orchestrate your agents at scale
  • Kernel: cloud infrastructure so your agents can get out there and actually use the internet
  • Channel3: one API, 100M+ items of clean product data, zero scraping required
  • Astropods: infrastructure built agent-first, so your agents have somewhere proper to run
  • Zapier and Elastic round out the lineup, for automation and fast hybrid and vector search
