About 24Flow
24Flow is a SaaS operations platform that empowers discrete manufacturers to reduce product delivery lead times through digital support of workers on the shopfloor. Inspired by lean and QRM, 24Flow controls the flow of production orders and increases visibility across the production process. This results in shorter lead times, less work-in-progress, improved delivery reliability and less stock. Via composable apps, 24Flow provides visual planning and order release management, time registrations, component picking, digital checklists, digital work instructions, competence management and more. 24Flow provides a high degree of no-code configurability as well as low-code extensibility and is 100% built natively on top of the Salesforce platform.
Visual planning in discrete manufacturing
As part of its app suite, 24Flow has a visual planning tool, named 24Planning, that allows planners to view production capacity taking into account constraints. 24Planning is used to simulate production planning taking into account the availability of machines and people and hence it allows to identify and resolve future bottlenecks.
Build or buy?
Building a solid scheduling solution takes a lot of time and effort. 24Flow opted to use a 3rd party library instead of reinventing the wheel. After careful review of the options on the market, we adopted Bryntum’s scheduling component library. 24Flow selected Bryntum above other alternatives such as DHTMLx for the following reasons:
- A feature-rich, professional and complete scheduling library
- Ability to show dependencies between tasks
- Configurable time scaling and zooming
- Good filtering options
- A good way to work with non-working periods such as weekends and holidays.
Final thoughts
24Flow was one of Bryntum’s first customers with a solution built on the Salesforce platform. This posed quite a few challenges in terms of browser APIs that are protected by Salesforce’s security policies. Despite shortcomings in Bryntum’s documentation on this point, the Bryntum support team has been helpful in resolving these issues.
Building on Bryntum, 24Planning is a visually appealing planning solution that scales to large datasets and empowers planners in discrete manufacturing with robust production simulation and planning.
