Scheduler 1.x vs ExtJS Scheduler

Deare Bryntum team,

We are using Bryntum ExtJS Scheduler 5.1.8, noticed you released Scheduler 1.X, some questions like to ask.
1. How good is Scheduler 1.x compared by ExtJS Scheduler? Any features/functions Scheduler 1.x are missing compared by ExtJS Scheduler?
2. Any migration guide for ExtJS Scheduler to Scheduler 1.x?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

Great question, I will try to highlight the biggest differences between the two. On the upside for Scheduler1.x it does not require Ext JS or any other framework and it has much better performance, plus a number of new features and demos. On the downside, it currently lacks a few features compared to Ext Scheduler.

For someone about to pick between the two I would recommend the following:

* For someone not currently using Ext JS and not needing the additional features of Ext Scheduler, pick Scheduler1.x.
* If you already use Ext JS or need the additional features, pick Ext Scheduler 6.x (Ext JS license required).

Please see this comparison table to see exactly how they differ: https://www.bryntum.com/products/scheduler/compare/

To compare features, you can check the feature list for each product:
https://www.bryntum.com/products/scheduler/features/
https://www.bryntum.com/products/schedu ... /features/

And to get a feeling for how they work, browse the examples:

Johan

Thanks Johan for the quick reply.

Not sure whether Scheduler 1.x has/will have the splitgrid feature which we used at our current application, https://www.bryntum.com/examples/schedu ... /splitgrid.

Thanks,
Jonathan

It does not currently have that feature and I do not dare to guess when it will

@jonathan, you can build a split grid UI now with the partering support we've added.

Thanks @mats for the update, looks awesome!
Another question is when we'll have RTL feature on the new Scheduler? :) And is there a roadmap page that we can review for the future functionalities for the new Scheduler or new Gantt?

Thanks,
Jonathan

RTL is a low prio feature for the new Scheduler I'm afraid. Very rarely requested and impacts pretty much the whole code base and adds lots of complexity. We would definitely consider it as sponsored feature though.

We are considering upgrading to the new Scheduler and are wondering if all the features of the ExtJS scheduler will be ported according to this list:
https://www.bryntum.com/products/scheduler/compare/
If not, what features will not be ported?

Most will be ported in time, as it looks now these are low prio:

* RTL
* Cell plugin
* Timegap plugin
* Split grid feature

Any unported features that are critical for you?

What about recurring events? Make the scheduler generate the events based on a schedule (with exceptions).
